OBSERVE THE PEACEFUL SWIM OF MILLIONS OF YEARS OF HISTORY
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
During your visit to Xcaret you will have the opportunity to admire one of the oldest species in the world: sea turtles.
Despite having survived generation after generation for more than millions of years, they are in danger of extinction.
There are only seven species of sea turtles in the world, all nesting on Mexico’s coast and four of them in Quintana Roo. That's why Xcaret park protects them with the Sea Turtle Conservation Program in Riviera Maya, organized by the Flora, Fauna and Culture Foundation of Mexico, A. C.
With this program, turtles are taken care of until they are big enough to be safe from their natural enemies, so that they can be delivered back to the sea.
At Xcaret you will see small and medium-sized turtles in a special area. The biggest ones are next to the natural pools, in a large pond with a window, so you can admire them while they’re swimming underwater.
Get ready to surprise yourself with the turtles swimming in the lagoon, they are colossal and can weigh up to a ton!
