Xcaret has more than a thousand years of history. A native community dedicated to maritime trade was settled in this area. Likewise, it was an important port and ceremonial center. Every year, dozens of canoers departed from here on a mysticalk ceremony.

The Pre-Hispanic remains at Xcaret México are distributed at the back of the cove, on the Tropical Jungle Trail, behind the stage of the Papantla Flyers, and between the Open Forum and the Aquarium.
