MEET THE LEGACY LEFT BEHIND BY THE ANCIENT SETTLERS AT XCARET<

Xcaret, originally called Polé, has more than a thousand years of history. A native community dedicated to maritime trade was settled in this area. Likewise, it was an important port and ceremonial center. Every year, dozens of canoers departed from here, bound for Cozumel to worship the goddess Ixchel.

The Pre-Hispanic ruins at Xcaret México are distributed at the back of the cove, on the Tropical Jungle Trail, behind the stage of the Papantla Flyers, and between the Open Forum and the Aquarium.
