A total of 32, 952 persons joined to the Fourth Life and Death Traditions Festival, which was held from October 30th to November 2nd at the Ecopark Xcaret, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

A bunch of stars illuminated Xcaret with their talent and received the warm praise of the spectators. The incomparable voice of Eugenia León and her “Fisful of dirt”, the “Macario” interpreted by Ignacio Lopez Tarso and the premiere of “The dance of the souls” received also the applause of the audience.

About 1, 300 people collaborated with their work and enthusiasm to make unforgettable the fourth edition of our festival. There worked 25 Mayan communities from Quintana Roo and 17 from Yucatan. Also there participated 729 artists which made possible 190 activities in the four days that endured the Festival.

People also enjoyed sharing traditions, altars and food with Mayan communities that taught us the true value of the Earth's deep roots and ancestors.

Xcaret dressed up with candles, flower of cempasuchitl and copal,

covered itself with music, stories, theatre and started to dance,

delighted itself with “mucbipollo”, “brazo de reina” and “tamales”,

Fullfilled its eyes with embroidery, filigree, wood and altars.
