With music, theater, dance and a kaleidoscope of color and flavors, Xcaret has been celebrating since last Friday the fourth edition of the Dead and Life Traditions Festival, which finishes today.
During this four days, dead and alive have enjoyed this tradition which ancient Mexicans left to us as an invaluable heritage.
Eugenia Leon, whit her sweet and powerful voice, and Ignacio Lopez Tarso, with his histrionic talent, have gave to the Xcaret visitants unforgettable moments of this celebration. Local artists, musicians, actors and storytellers have provided hours of fun and craftiness.
Xcaret, which is one of the most visited spots in Mexico, serves as a showcase of our traditions, and allows visitors to glance at the Mexican worldview. Among flowers of cempasúchitl, pan de muerto (a kind of bread), candles and sugar skulls, our visitors can feel the mistery of pre-hispanic rituals which have combined with our colonial age and now mark our calendar with its unique atmosphere.
Our visitants also can enjoy local flavors and delicious recipes from the guest stateYucatan, such as the mucbilpollo, which is only cooked for Hanal Pixan, the yucatecan celebration for the Dead’s Day.
Definetly, our festival is a very good occasion to letting go to the Mexican Caribbean and enjoy not only local traditions but also the richness of this piece of paradise.
