Playa Del Carmen offers everything you could want for your vacation in the Riviera Maya. In Playa del Carmen you´ll find white sand beaches, the warm turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea, international cuisine for every budget and palate, exceptional shopping, and exciting nightlife with the taste of a charming small cosmopolitan town. Playa del Carmen or Playa as locals call it, used to be a small fishing village, with a small dock to cross from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel.

In Playa del Carmen, the endless attraction is the beach. In fact, there are three sections in Playa del Carmen; the old Playa, Playacar and the new section which has had a noticeable growth the later five years. The short distance of the reef from Playa del Carmen means excellent snorkeling and available gear for rent every where. The shops in Playa del Carmen offer scuba diving which claims to be the best in México. Playa del Carmen is a good place for beginners. Introductory courses teach the basics and then amateur divers are taken out to explore the reefs for a couple hours.

After diving, Playa del Carmen bustles lots of eateries. The main happening in Playa del Carmen is known as the Quinta Avenida, which is a dazzling cosmopolitan experience. Besides a few beachside restaurants, la Quinta Avenida is the town’s main restaurant row in Playa del Carmen, featuring a large selection of places that will satisfy most of craving ranging from tacos, fajitas, pizzas, steaks, lobster or vegetarian plates to oriental food.

After meal, is time to shop. In Playa del Carmen there are lots of boutiques featuring excellent assortment of sophisticated handicrafts from all over México and abroad, like masks, embroidered clothing and jewelry.
